MATYS
Automatic Messaging for Screening and Follow-up Care

Our Information System
There are different strategies to make screening more effective, such as awareness campaigns and training for health care providers. At present, technological resources and telecommunication emerge with much power and influence.

MATYS is an information system designed to send health-related messages to the population. Its principal characteristics are:

PROVIDING SMS SERVICES

It allows for reverse charging and it notifies the receipt or error of the messages, as well as its usage statistics.

FAULT RECOVERY AND AUTO-RECOVERY

Logical and physical security messages, backup policies, network redundancy, uninterruptible power supply, execution control process and incident reporting.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Unit and Integration Tests during Development
Temporal Context Simulation
Integrated Test Environment
Validation of Logic Models in Multidisciplinary Teams
Technology in Development with Important Presence in the Market

What is MATYS’ Specific Task in the ATICA Study?

It sends messages to women who have performed self-collection (SC) of the HPV test to inform them that their test results are available at the health care center.
MATYS acts as a reminder and incentive for HPV positive women to continue with the next step of follow-up care: Pap Triage

To identify the women who have performed self-collection of the HPV test, MATYS communicates via an interface with SITAM (Spanish acronym for Screening Information System). It then sends a notification to the woman’s cellphone, which varies depending on the test result. In the ATICA Study, MATYS sends up to four reminders a month, as well as specific messages for the community health workers if the woman does not undergo Pap testing in a timely manner.

DUE TO ITS CHARACTERISTICS, THE MATYS SYSTEM WAS DESIGNED AS A SUPPORT TOOL FOR HEALTH PROGRAMS THAT USE THE DEMOGRAPHIC STRATEGY OF SCREENING WITH DIFFERENT TESTS AND IN DIFFERENT CONTEXTS.
